**Technical Officer Network Safety**

Melbourne, VIC, AU, 3000

**About us**:
CitiPower, Powercor and United Energy own and operate the electricity distribution networks servicing 1.9 million customers located across 65% of Victoria. These customers include large numbers of households as well as commercial and industrial businesses, world class arts, health and sporting precincts, popular tourism regions and the biggest infrastructure projects in Victoria.

We provide reliable, safe and affordable electricity and our businesses are independently rated as the best in the country for their efficiency. Sustaining this is all the more critical and challenging as greater electrification of homes, fleets and industries becomes a core strategy for reducing carbon emissions and addressing climate change.

**About the Role**:
We are currently looking for an experienced Technical Officer Network Safety to join our Network Risk and Assurance Team in a full-time permanent capacity, based at our Market Street head office.

Working in this business-critical role you will be responsible for the timely collation and reporting of electrical safety incidents that occur on our United Energy network to Energy Safe Victoria in line with our regulatory requirements.

This includes the verification of technical information relevant to electrical safety incidents to allow for the accurate reporting in accordance with regulatory reporting requirements.

If you thrive working with others, building and maintaining relationships; and have a passion for safety, this is an important opportunity that should not be missed

**What you’ll deliver**:

- Monitor and report on reportable electrical safety incidents for United Energy (also for CitiPower and Powercor when required) in line with the requirements of the Electricity Safety Act and Management Regulations
- Undertake timely reporting of network safety incidents to the electricity safety regulator Energy Safe Victoria (ESV), using an online reporting tool and internally via the United Energy, CitiPower and Powercor incident reporting system
- Conduct safety incident queries and investigations, including responding to ESV incident queries
- Work with ESV on interpretation of incident reporting matters and communicate requirements to relevant key stakeholders
- Respond to ESV on associated regulatory matters involving reportable incidents
- Participate in ESV Incident Reporting Committee meetings
- Communicate relevant network safety reporting obligations to all key stakeholders, including any regulatory changes

**To succeed in this role, you’ll have**:

- Associate Diploma of Electrical Power Systems; or Certificate of Technology (Electrical); or Certificate IV Electrical; or Associate Diploma Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualifications
- Knowledge of the electricity safety legislative framework, in particular regulatory reporting requirements (preferred)
- Knowledge of systems and processes associated with electricity networks
- Strong knowledge of the topology and operations of power distribution networks
- Working knowledge of the equipment used in the power network
- Ability to work autonomously and take ownership to liaise with internal and external stakeholders to produce formal responses and reports
- Experience in incident reporting and investigations
- Experience in an electrical technical/field role
- Experience in electricity distribution business is desired, however experience in the utilities industry is also suitable

**Your career with us**:
We have a diversity of teams across our business, all contributing to great customer and community outcomes. Our people are our most important asset, and we continually invest in nurturing their capability.

We proudly strive to provide a safe, inclusive and sustainable environment where all our people feel respected, valued and supported to bring their whole selves to work and be the best they can be.
