**Position Summary**:
A vacancy exists in St Vincent's Hospital GambleAware South Eastern Sydney for a highly motivated Counsellor with appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive team. Our progressive and innovative team offers development opportunities for our staff and a caring environment for the delivery of high quality patient centred care. The successful applicant(s) will be expected to be able to conduct intake, triage, assessments, care planning, and the provision of brief counselling interventions to callers, and prospective clients of the GambleAware South Eastern Sydney service.
The role is first point of contact for our service to help identify and address the caller’s treatment needs and priorities. The position will liaise with other health care professionals within St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney and with external agencies and partners relevant to the area of client treatment and care. The Intake and Engagement Officer is responsible for ensuring that appropriate treatment strategies are conducted in consultation with consumers of the service and that outcome/reporting measures are gathered as required. The position is also responsible for the community engagement activities for GambleAware South Eastern Sydney, including developing and maintaining relationships with referrers and key community organisations.
The vacancy is open to Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens who hold a valid New Zealand passport, Australian permanent residents and those non-residents deemed by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship to be eligible to work in Australia only.

**Selection Criteria**:
1. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia
2. Tertiary qualifications in counselling or other relevant behavioural science and eligibility for membership of the relevant professional association.
3. Demonstrated ability to undertake intake and screening assessments including bio-psychosocial assessments to determine client needs, and to assist clients to access appropriate services.
4. The ability and experience to deliver brief therapeutic interventions, counselling services and treatment plans
5. Experience in working in a multidisciplinary environment with the ability to work autonomously with mínimal direct supervision.
6. Demonstrated understanding of the issues affecting people who have problem gambling, and an understanding of evidence based approaches in working with them and their families/significant others.
7. Demonstrated experience of working with addiction, mental health, or problem behaviour.
