About Runcorn State High School

About the Role
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Monitor student engagement data, follow up with chronically absent students, and collaborate with key staff to address attendance issues.
- Maintain a database of students with specific needs (legal orders, independent status, guardian care, etc.) that impact attendance and engagement.
- Develop relationships with families of persistently absent students, working with teachers to address barriers and encourage attendance.
- Assist with the implementation and running of the AVID program by addressing student needs identified in morning checks.
- Identify barriers and refer students to appropriate support services.
- Provide general administrative support and assist with first aid when needed.
- Conduct home visits to engage with families and address persistent attendance issues, offering support and intervention strategies to encourage consistent student attendance.
About You
Ideal applicant will have following skills, knowledge and attributes:
- Capacity to identify and address barriers to student attendance and engagement.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
- Ability to manage and coordinate various tasks and reports efficiently.
- Understanding and patience when dealing with students and families facing challenges.
- Accuracy in documenting and managing attendance and engagement data.
- Experience in school engagement or student support roles.
- Familiarity with attendance monitoring.
- Understanding of community resources and support services for students and families.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data to inform strategies for improving student engagement.
- Ability to manage and resolve conflicts between students, families, and the school.
- Sensitivity to and experience with diverse cultural backgrounds and needs.
