**Product Development Associate (R&D Molecular Diagnostics)**

**About the Role**:

- **Full time, 12-month fixed term contract** as a Product Development Associate working in the Product Development team.
- This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience with a variety of state-of-the
- art diagnostic equipment.
- Extensive training will be provided to ensure a smooth transition to the role and the company.
- Monday - Friday office hours.

**About the Team**:

- The Product Development team operates as part of Research, Innovation and Development department and we work closely with the Research team to move products through the R&D phase.
- We are a supportive and close-knit team. During our weekly team meetings, we enjoy brainstorming solutions to problems or thinking of ways to streamline our processes.

**Your primary responsibilities will include**:

- Support the completion of Development phase activities for a product in R&D.
- Perform a range of molecular biology experiments, including but not limited to, nucleic acid extraction and PCR.
- Work both independently and in a team to design experiments, prepare protocols and perform experiments.
- Handle a variety of sample types and microbial cultures in a PC2 laboratory.
- Analyse, interpret, and report on experimental outcomes.
- Update project indexes related to experimental work and communicate the results to the team and wider SpeeDx community.
- Work according to the organisation’s laboratory safety, health, and environmental standards.
- Perform general laboratory cleaning and maintenance duties.

**Who you are**:

- Honours or master’s in Molecular Biology or a related field and three years relevant experience **OR **a PhD in Molecular Biology or a related field
- Experience in molecular biology techniques

**The following are not essential but highly desirable**:

- A working knowledge of qPCR including how to perform qPCR and how to analyse results. If you have qPCR experience, please include which platform(s) you have experience with
- Experience working in a PC2 laboratory
- Automated liquid handling experience. If applicable, please include which platform(s) you have experience with

- Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal
- Able to demonstrate a team player attitude
- Have keen and diligent work ethic with a focus on safety within the laboratory
- Display a desire to learn and assist with process improvement

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term

**Salary**: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
