**The Opportunity**
As a Payroll Internal Auditor, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive audits of payroll processes, systems, and controls within the organisation. Your primary objective will be to ensure the accuracy, compliance, and integrity of payroll operations while identifying any potential risks or irregularities.

You will be responsible for the following:

- Conduct detailed audits of payroll transactions, employee data, and payroll system configurations to ensure accuracy, compliance, and adherence to policies and procedures.
- Review payroll records, tax withholdings, deductions, and earnings to identify any discrepancies or potential areas of concern.
- Verify the accuracy and completeness of payroll calculations, including wages, overtime, bonuses, and benefits.
- Stay updated with relevant payroll laws, regulations, and tax requirements to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Monitor payroll processes to identify any non-compliance issues, potential risks, or areas for improvement
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as Human Resources and Finance, to address compliance concerns and implement corrective actions.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls related to payroll processes and systems, identifying any control weaknesses or gaps.
- Develop and implement audit procedures to mitigate risks, enhance control measures, and safeguard against fraudulent activities.
- Communicate audit results to relevant stakeholders, ensuring clear understanding of issues, risks, and recommended solutions.

**What You Will Need**
This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a thorough understanding of payroll regulations and best practices.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Payroll Professional, Certified Internal Auditor) are highly desirable.
- Proven experience in payroll auditing, internal auditing, or a similar role, with a strong understanding of payroll processes, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Experience in reviewing and interpreting a large number of different awards and certified agreements.
- Knowledge of payroll software and systems, proficiency in MS Excel, and familiarity with data analysis techniques.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
