**About the Role**

The Land Acquisition Specialist offers land acquisition services to the Division’s partners, including the Department of Transport and Planning, Level Crossing Removal Project, Major Roads Project Victoria (including Westgate Tunnel and North East Link Projects), Metro Tunnel Project, and SRLA. They provide expert advice and strategy on property issues affecting project planning and delivery, such as compulsory acquisitions, lease negotiations, purchases, temporary occupations, underground strata divestments, and Planning and Environment Act claims.

**Position Outcomes**

The position involves providing expert advice on land transaction laws, legislation, and policies to support decision-making and risk management. It includes providing guidance and directly managing complex land and compensation negotiations, interacting with landowners and stakeholders, preparing necessary documents, handling compensation offers, managing risks, and resolving disputes according to relevant legislation and policies. The role involves high levels of project planning, mentoring and training staff on government land transaction processes, leading efforts to improve divisional processes and policies, and promoting a safe, inclusive, and flexible team environment. Additionally, it role requires strong leadership to motivate and engage staff, ensuring a positive work environment with clear performance expectations.

**Qualifications and Experience**

**Desirable**
- A relevant tertiary degree would be well regarded.
- Extensive experience in compulsory land acquisition & government land assembly
- Extensive experience in project planning and delivery
