Are you ready to lead the charge in AI governance and emerging technology adoption in a newly forming IT function within the Department

**About the Role**

This is an exciting new position within a newly forming ICT function, offering a unique opportunity to help shape the future of DCCEEW using innovation and emerging technologies. With no fixed routine, we’re looking for someone who thrives in dynamic environments, is hands-on, and ready to contribute wherever needed.

In this role, you will be responsible for actively driving innovation and AI governance across the organisation. You’ll lead workshops to explore new technologies, deliver pilots and proof-of-concepts, and collaborate closely with Business Partners, Architecture and Planning teams. Your work will involve engaging with a broad network—including vendors, universities, central government, and internal stakeholders—to co-design practical, forward-thinking solutions.

You’ll also play a key role in supporting the NSW AI Assurance Framework (AIAF), guiding and supporting business teams & vendors through adoption of AIAF, and contributing to digital governance by helping shape standards, policies, and long-term innovation strategies. Flexibility is key, as you’ll be involved in key projects that align with emerging tech initiatives.

**About You**

You will bring:

- **Technology Governance & Assurance Expertise**: Demonstrated experience in governance, assurance, and compliance, particularly within the context of emerging technologies and AI.
- **Innovation Frameworks**: Familiarity with agile innovation methodologies and experience implementing frameworks that support rapid experimentation and delivery.
- **Ethical & Regulatory Knowledge**: Strong grasp of the ethical, legal, and regulatory standards relevant to AI and emerging technologies, with the ability to ensure alignment and compliance.
- **Strategic Alignment**: Deep understanding of organisational vision, values, and strategic objectives, and how technology can support broader industry and customer outcomes.
- **Stakeholder Engagement**: Demonstrated success in building positive relationships and managing diverse stakeholder expectations across technical and non-technical audiences.
- **Communication & Education Skills**: Highly effective communicator with the ability to deliver engaging presentations and facilitate impromptu education sessions on AI and emerging technologies.

**Essential Requirements**
- Certification or training in AI, emerging technology or a relevant professional qualification.
