For 20 years Messagemedia quietly went about growing its business, building a customer base, opening new offices, sometimes in new countries of operation and growing the team along the way.

Running on a core tech stack of AWS, Java & PHP, they grew a reputation for exceptional engineers that solved highly complex problems in an increasingly demanding segment. The growth continued, and then in 2021 they were acquired by Sinch for $1.3Bn and the real work began of building an omnichannel communications platform for the SMB market.

We’re now hiring a Development Manager to join our growing team. Not only are we growing but this role will be responsible for a complete revamp of our platform. We have the basics decided but this role is crucial in the planning, building and rollout of our new platform.

With more CRM systems coming on board, this team will be growing even further which means this role will be critical to ensuring success. This team is essentially the gateway to new customers through the CRM partners, meaning the systems and products that your tribe builds will have a big impact on the success of our customers and ultimately the business.

**Job Description**:
We’ll be asking you to lead a team that at this point is a mix of remote in Manila and Hanoi. It's a role that isn't hands-on in code but provides technical and people leadership.
- You will lead a team of passionate engineers and progress them through their careers that empowers them to be self organised and achieving sustainable results
- Employ Agile methodologies, to deliver on value for our customers
- Partner and collaborate with Product Managers, Architects and Tech Leads to ensure we have clear direction and priorities.
- Effectively communicate and break down any roadblocks as they arise, we get these things happen
- Grow the engineering team to drive new initiatives and implement new processes

**Qualifications**:
We’re expecting to hire someone who is both a technical leader and an inspirer of people. We think the success profile of this person is:

- First and foremost a people person with around two (2) years of experience in leading a team. preferably remote teams.
- Demonstrated abilities in engaging people in career development, helping them to build a plan, and coaching them to see it become a reality.
- An expert with skills in redesigning a platform previously and has some great learnings you can bring to the table.
- A strategic thinker and someone who thrives operating in broad scope, from conception through the continuous operation of 24x7 services. As a pragmatist, you are able to distill complex and ambiguous situations into actionable plans for your team.
- Master of agile processes, continuous integration and test automation.
- A development or system engineering background with at around 7 years of hands-on experience developing complex systems. Preferably in a SaaS environment.

You'll join an API-driven and Microservice-led environment, deploying multiple times a day. So we’re expecting someone to join us with experience in a contemporary technical environment.

Additional Information

Ideally, we’d love to have this role based in Perth, but we’re open to anywhere in the AU/NZ time zone
