**About the Role**
This position entails conducting research on computational and mathematical models of infectious disease transmission and control, aiming to support public health policy decision-making. It is part of the interdisciplinary NRMRC Centre of Research Excellence in Supporting Participatory Evidence Generation to Control Transmissible Disease in our Region Using Modelling (SPECTRUM), collaborating with Dr. Iadine Chadès from CSIRO Environment. A unique aspect of this role is the opportunity to investigate relationships between data, models, and decision support, while also developing and evaluating guidelines and frameworks to mitigate biases, all within a collaborative environment at the University of Melbourne's School of Computing and Information Systems.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Independently plan and carry out research on the nominated research project and work towards completion of the aims of the project;
- Develop effective timelines and milestones based on goals of the research programme;
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all research activities;
- Participate in preparation of manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.

**Who We Are Looking For**

You will effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, assist fellow researchers in experiments to enhance teamwork and research output, actively communicate and disseminate research findings, and identify funding sources to support teaching, research, and engagement projects within the discipline

You will also have:

- A PhD in computer science or another quantitative discipline;
- A record of innovative, high-quality research as evidenced by publications in leading journals and conferences, commensurate with opportunity;
- Demonstrated ability to perform independent research and a commitment to interdisciplinary research;
- Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills and an ability to clearly communicate research concepts to technical and non-technical audiences, including an ability to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders
