**Who we are**

The Net Zero Economy Authority (the Authority) was established by the Net Zero Economy Act 2024 as a statutory agency. Its mission is to empower the regions, workers and communities most affected by Australia’s transition to a net zero emissions economy to anticipate and respond to the risks and opportunities of the transition. The authority is presently establishing itself as a separate entity, including off-boarding from the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (PM&C). The authority is expected to transition in 2025 to being a separate entity from PM&C, at which time, all employees will transfer under Machinery of Government (MoG) changes to the authority.

The Board and Parliamentary Section is part of the Policy and Coordination Branch. The Section is responsible for supporting the authority’s Board and providing Parliamentary and Cabinet functions to the authority.

The team is responsible for:

- End-to-end coordination of meetings of the authority’s Board including planning, logistics and the development of agendas, papers and meeting outcomes to ensure timely and high quality delivery of meetings - minimum 6 per year, and any Stakeholder panel meetings.
- Developing protocols and guidance relating to the functions of the Board and Stakeholder Panel. This includes management of Chair engagements and responses.
- Parliamentary Document Management System (PDMS) - maintaining templates, processes including liaising with the Board and Ministerial officers, and general assistance across the authority; logging correspondence, allocating items for completion, ensuring timeframes for responses are met, and reporting.
- Parliamentary and Cabinet functions including, managing Senate Estimates briefing, Questions on Notice and Cabinet submission process through the relevant systems.

**What you will do**

Board and Parliamentary Support Advisors will be required to work under direction to perform and achieve moderate to complex administrative support work within an integrated workforce.

They will also be required to work across various functions of the Section, and be supported by an Assistant Director.

As an APS 5 Advisor In addition to the general responsibilities and duties outlined in the Work Level Standards for the APS 5 level, key responsibilities and priorities include (but are not limited to):

- Assisting with the organisation of the meetings of the authority’s Board
- Arranging, coordinating and reconciling all aspects of travel for the Chair and Board
- Assisting with the coordination of meetings papers and briefs, including preparing meeting packs
- Establishing and maintaining relationships through effective communication, collaboration, negotiation and issues management to engage members and work areas across the authority
- Demonstrating an ability to develop objectives for short-terms tasks and contribute to strategic planning and longer term initiatives
- Maintaining effective file management through an electronic records management system in line with departmental policies and procedures
- Supporting the authority’s parliamentary function by assisting with the organisation of Senate Estimates briefing material and coordination Questions on Notice and Question Time Briefs, including assisting the Cabinet Liaison Officer.
