**About the role**:
Development Services seeks a culture of risk and data led decision making. Leading the Data Analytics Team, the Principal Data Insights Analyst will develop and maintain appropriate systems and capabilities to drive information collection, analysis, interpretation, and innovative presentations to support the Development Services business strategy, performance monitoring and decision making.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Lead and role model customer focused behaviour by working together with other areas of the department to solve issues.
- Model and lead performance excellence and values-based culture in line with the department’s Leadership Blueprint.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the business and how branch data is created and used to provide accurate reports and insights relevant to operational and strategic decision-making.
- Drive change by leveraging data and data analytics to monitor and communicate branch performance and trends and providing insights that can deliver business improvement.
- Facilitate ongoing education and training of staff be data literate and enable Development Services to have a mature approach to evaluation and reporting.
- Initiate and maintain cross-organisational collaboration to identify opportunities, share expertise and resources and enable the prioritisation of branch goals.

**Highly desirable criteria**:

- Demonstrated evidence of capabilities in the department’s Leadership Blueprint to deliver performance excellence and a values-based culture.
- Strong understanding of business service lines and key performance indicators, or proven capability to acquire such understanding.
- Proven experience in providing technical leadership in a complex multidisciplinary environment which includes applied, expert-level understanding of data modelling, manipulation, transformation and visualisation and deep knowledge of relevant, state-of-the-art tools to address business objectives.
- Proven experience in Microsoft PowerBI tabular modelling, DAX query development and M coding, data optimisation, structure analysis and modelling.
- Proven ability to initiate and lead business-wide change, including the development and implementation of data and analytics strategies, models and activities.
- Advanced interpersonal skills to communicate, negotiate and partner internally and externally to deliver branch goals, including presentation skills that bring data to life.

**Desirable criteria**:

- Tertiary qualifications in mathematics, economics, computer science, information management or statistics is highly desirable.
