We are seeking a Capital Project Officer to join our Finance and Business Performance Division for a period of 8 months.

This role will be suitable for someone with accounting skills gained through being a Graduate accountant or a bookkeeper.

***The Opportunity**

As the Capital Project Officer you will be primarily responsible for providing capital project control support to the Finance team.

**What you'll do**:

- Provide capital project control support, this includes the preparation and processing of project administrative tasks such as opening, closing and revision of capital projects in the Corporation’s enterprise resource planning system.
- Compliance with and ongoing review of all relevant processes and procedures identifying improvements and efficiency gains where appropriate. This includes providing support to ongoing improvement initiatives of the Capital and Fixed Asset function.
- Provide guidance to project managers on policies and processes relating to capital project governance functions.
- Provide project control support including assigned or ad hoc tasks as requested by the Senior Financial
- Accountant - Capital or Group Manager Corporate Finance.
- Support the monthly review of capital project work-in-progress.
- Provision of support to the Fixed Asset and Capital project accounting function as required including the processing of asset additions and retirements.

**What you'll need to be successful**:
**Essential Criteria**:

- Qualifications in bookkeeping, accounting or related discipline and/or relevant equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of commercial business principles and practices.
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a deadline-driven workplace and to effectively manage challenges and changing priorities whilst still meeting team and corporate deadlines.
- Demonstrated high level of interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team and demonstrate a high level of self-motivation.

***Desirable Criteria**:

- Experience using enterprise resource systems in a corporate environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of Australian Accounting Standards, accounting policies and practices.
- Experience in asset accounting and/or capital project accounting.
