**About the opportunity**:
The Environment Protection Division is responsible for a wide range of regulatory and non-regulatory programs to protect the environment from potentially harmful effects of products throughout their life cycle. From the product design stage to end of life, we work with industry and other stakeholders on ways to improve product sustainability, reduce chemicals of concern, increase recyclability, and reduce waste-to-landfill. Our focus is on transforming the way Australia's waste is managed, preventing air quality and ozone layer depletion, and managing the environmental risks of industrial chemicals.

This role is located with the **Compliance and Audit Policy team** of the Waste Export Sections.
- Build and nurture positive working relationships within the team and the department, as well as with external stakeholders, such as industry peak bodies.
- Take part in designing and implementing communication and education programs for industry to bring them into the compliance with the relevant legislation and program requirements.
- As part of a team, contribute to the program's audit design and also undertake audits on industry participants.
- As part of a team, contribute to the selection and tailoring of approaches, methods and tools that will be used to conduct proactive compliance activities on industry participants.
- Assess all allegations of non-compliance with the program, and recommend to senior staff if further action is required.
- Compiling reports on the results of compliance activities and audits and presenting these reports to relevant supervisors and senior executives.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience working in regulatory programs or a compliance, audit or law enforcement role.
- Strong attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative.
- Strong communication and multitasking skills.
- Dedication to objectivity.
