**About the role**:
Our client is seeking a Principal Cloud Operations Specialist to provide operational and strategic advice on best practice of the Department’s physical and virtual solutions with a core focus on the Microsoft Azure environment. The Principal Cloud Operations Specialist plays a key role in the implementation of new services, transition to support and the BAU management of existing solutions.

The Principal Cloud Operations Specialist will work within the ICT Operations team offering strategic advice to ensure that all supported services are implemented using industry best practice, are cost effective and secure. The Principal Cloud Operations specialist will assist with Implementing best practice recommendations from a microsoft review, update components to supported versions, review current solutions for correct sizing and update, decommission unused resources, implement test environments for critical systems and standardise and document the environment.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Utilise, configure, and implement infrastructure, networks and cloud platforms, based on the organisation’s architectural requirements, including new projects, upgrade projects and cloud migration that delivers fit for purpose, secure outcomes and supports the organisation’s objectives and technology and digital outcomes that are utilised by the Department.
- Analyse, support, and maintain existing and installed IT infrastructure and networks including cloud platforms, storage, databases etc to ensure there is continued service reliability and enhancements are implemented through the lifecycle of the infrastructure and as investment is made for current technical environment on an ongoing basis to ensure that services are implemented and configured using industry best practices and are cost effective.
- Evaluate, (re)develop, implement and maintain ICT procedures, plans, strategies, and other technical documentation as required through the delivery of projects, to ensure up to date and accurate information for future use.
- Leverage automation tools and Infrastructure as Code tools to maintain environment and execute changes and identifies areas of operations with quality deficits or automation opportunities.
- Manage the escalation of incidents from other team members to resolve incidents and service requests in a timely manner. The Principal Cloud Operations Specialist also manages escalations of Incidents to third-parties where required including monitoring, incident response, answering service requests, and execution of changes.

- use, minimise user down-time and optimise organisation return on investment including network diagrams, work instructions, quick reference guides and training material.
- Undertake the technical lead role engagement with project teams including customers, stakeholders to produce design recommendations relevant to the outcomes desired by the Project ensuring that recommendations are sustainable, supportable, and affordable.
- Ability to rearchitect, learn and adapt to new frameworks or technologies and quickly integrate with them for automation.
- Mentor, support and provide technical leadership across the IT Services area and, using an appropriate engagement and communication style, contribute to a positive team culture with a focus on collaboration and the customer experience.
