**Our research**

At Cancer Council Queensland, we conduct a collaborative program of research in cancer control. It is focused on understanding cancer risk, ensuring early detection of cancer, improving cancer survivorship and reducing inequities in cancer outcomes through population cancer surveillance.

The Viertel Cancer Research Centre is a multi-disciplinary research centre with strengths in four key areas - cancer epidemiology, childhood cancer research, health services and behavioural research. We are particularly interested in identifying and addressing challenges related to social and geographic inequities in cancer-related outcomes.

**About the role**

This role is fixed term (2 years) and full-time (37.5 hours per week).

**About you**

**Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills**

**Essential**:

- A PhD or equivalent experience.
- Qualifications in statistical, mathematical or epidemiological modelling with demonstrated skills in statistical software programming with R, python and/or Stata, and data management skills.
- Demonstrated spoken and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated organisational skills and ability to conduct work to a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to work independently whilst maintaining a strong working relationship with the research team.

**Desirable**:

- Peer-reviewed publications as lead author.
- Demonstrated experience working with sensitive research data.
- Demonstrated experience conducting statistical modelling in the Bayesian framework.
- Demonstrated experience in epidemiology, particularly cancer epidemiology.
