About This Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated Senior Research Project Officer to play a key role in supporting a major international research and teaching initiative across Asia and the Pacific.

With your extensive experience managing complex international projects, you will coordinate activities in Cambodia, Laos, Papua New Guinea and Timor Leste, helping to deliver research excellence and capacity-building outcomes in the region. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinate all stages of the research project cycle—including planning, delivery, monitoring, and evaluation—to ensure successful project execution across multiple countries.

  • Provide high-level project and administrative support, including tracking milestones, managing documentation, and ensuring compliance with research methodologies.

  • Deliver technical and scientific input by advising on research methods, maintaining quality assurance, and staying across current methodologies and resources.

  • Support research outputs through preparation of documentation, funding and ethics applications, and development of reports, presentations, and data visualisations.

This is a part-time (40%), fixed-term position through to 29th October 2027 at HEW Level 6.

About You

We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Senior Research Project Officer to apply their subject matter expertise and advanced knowledge to the coordination of an international research and teaching project.

  • Veterinary Medicine degree and PhD in Veterinary Medicine.

  • Expertise in veterinary epidemiology and applied outbreak investigations.

  • Strong international project management experience, particularly in Cambodia, Laos, Timor Leste, and Papua New Guinea.

  • Proven leadership in coordinating international research, education, and training activities.

  • Demonstrated veterinary clinical skills.

  • Excellent problem-solving, time management, and adaptability in dynamic environments.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience engaging diverse stakeholders.

  • Committed to UQ's values, with integrity, openness, and respect in all professional interactions.

The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, criminal check, mandatory immunisations.
