- Eldercare has an exciting opportunity for Dementia Support Assistants to join the team at Eldercare The Village.
The Dementia Support Assistant is a new role to Eldercare and provides individualized one-on-one support and engagement to residents living with dementia in Eldercare Memory Support Units.
- This role will work closely with the site based leadership team with best practice and professional support provided by Clinical Nurse Consultant - Dementia, to provide high-quality care and support to residents.
- Provide individualised care and support to residents living with dementia, including assistance with emotional support
- Engage residents with meaningful activities that are aligned with their background and interests, and which generate comfort, familiarity and positive emotion.
- Create a safe and supportive environment for residents, promoting independence, dignity and optimal wellbeing
- Foster a calm and reassuring environment, responding empathetically to residents' emotional needs
**_The following shifts are available on a permanent part time contract;_**
**Week 1**
Wednesday 10:00 - 20:00
Thursday 10:00 - 20:00
Sunday 10:00 - 20:00
Monday 10:00 - 20:00
**Week 2**
Wednesday 10:00 - 20:00
Thursday 10:00 - 20:00
**To be successful in this role, you will**:
- Be a vibrant and enthusiastic person to join our team
- Possess a Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) or Aged Care - or equivalent
- A certificate IV in health and leisure is desirable (but not required)
- Minimum 6 months experience in Aged Care
- Experienced in participating and arranging recreational or leisure pursuits
- Specific experience in working with Older People, an advantage if dementia specific.
- Be passionate about enhancing the wellbeing of our residents
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Be enthusiastic and motivated, showing a willingness to learn
- Have great time management and organisational skills
- The ability to think with initiative
- Be able to interact positively with residents and their families

- To work for Eldercare, you are required to have a police clearance valid for working in aged care (unsupervised contact with vulnerable people) and the clearance needs to be less than 12 months since date of issue._
