Hays is currently partnered with a Federal Government agency to recruit a n Assistant Director in Transition Communications & Engagement for a 12-month placement.

This company is an independent statutory agency that is responsible for implementing programs that support a better life those with a significant and permanent disability and their families and carers.

**Your new role**
***
This is a team leadership position, and you will have delegated authority and responsibility to resolve issues and risks across a wide range of topics. This role requires strong leadership, control, planning, performance management and decision making.

Responsibilities include:

- Leading staff to deliver timely, innovative and evidence-based communications and engagement strategies, plans, content and activities that support the organisations Corporate Plan and project objectives.
- Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders within the organisation, guiding the team with best practice ways to provide advice, quality assurance and support to business areas to meet their communication objectives.
- Managing and optimising internal and external communications and engagement channels to reach intended audiences.
- Undertake detailed or sensitive project tasks to support the organisations objectives and drive business outcomes.
- Contributing to the strategic direction of projects and business improvement initiatives, driving the strategic and co-ordinated management of targeted communications and engagement activities.
- Utilising reporting metrics to review the impact of communication and engagement approaches, identifying areas of overlap and key gaps to continue to refine and improve plans and strategies.
- Identifying and mitigating reputational risks associated with communication, engagement and project activities.

**What you'll need to succeed**

To be considered for this role, you will have:

- Tertiary qualifications and or previous experience working in Communications, Change Management, Project Management or a related field
- Capability to assist in the creation and management of projects to drive organisational outcomes
- Manage collaborative and independent work by setting priorities, establishing timelines and leveraging resources
- Strong interpersonal skills to ensure stakeholder relationships are optimised
- Ability to collaborate and work closely across various teams with emphasis on providing expertise and assistance on complex matters
- Experience interpreting complex information and exercise strong decision making
- Ability to respond and prioritise competing and urgent requests in a calm and efficient manner without compromising on accuracy and business outcomes

Due to the nature of our client, for this role you MUST be an Australian Citizen.
