In the role of Advisor (Policy) you will deliver strategic policy, projects, frameworks and programs that provide direction for the development of the transport system in Queensland. This role will draw from policy insights, emerging issues and opportunities, best practice research and analysis to shape 'whole of transport systems' policy.
You will be a part of a flexible working environment and have the opportunity to work within both the Strategic Directions and Policy Integration units of Transport Policy Branch. The units work collaboratively towards the delivery of policy solutions that support attainment of strategic outcomes of the government and TMR via customer engagement, policy solution design and implementation, economic analysis and consulting functions.
On commencement you will be a part of the Strategic Directions team, helping to set TMR's strategic direction through the Queensland Transport Strategy, the Transport Coordination Plan 2017-2027 and develop foundational policy such as Movement and Place to achieve strategic customer outcomes
Following the completion of this project your expert policy skill will then be required to assist with the Climate Change and Resilience Strategy being led by the Policy Integration team. As a part of this team you will deliver policy solutions to benefit the Queensland community and provide advice on sustainable transport polices to support decarbonisation of the transport sector and contribute to a sustainable future.
**Accountabilities include**:
- Contribute to policy development to help integrate transport with the built and natural environment, balancing the movement ofpeople and goods within transport networks with places and placemaking within transport corridors, nodes and precincts that are essential to social and economic activity.
- Contribute to the identification of strategic transport policy options and undertake projects and/or program activities to assist in development of policies to support the future direction for the transport system in Queensland.
- Provide advice on sustsainable transport priorities, policy and challenges to support decarbonation of the transport sector Contribute to strategic positioning of TMR activities in relation to emerging customer requirements, and local, state and national transport system issues and challenges.
- Undertake research and analysis in relation to emerging issues, risks and challenges confronting the transport system including those associated with climate change and other emerging transport policy issues.
- Liaise and negotiate with stakeholders across government and industry in relation to strategic transport system priorities.
- Contribute to and support project teams, comprising internal and external stakeholders, in relation to the development and implementation of strategic transport policy and projects.
- Prepare or contribute to the preparation of timely and well researched policy documents, briefs and/or submissions.
- Actively participate in performance conversations to build and support a culture of continuous improvement.
This position will report to the Manager (Strategic Directions) and then move to report to the Manager (Policy Integration).
