**The Role**
Naval Construction Branch (NCB) are seeking a dedicated and skilled individual for the role of Technical Officer (Electronics/Electrical) and become a valuable addition to the team. This is a unique opportunity to work on a range of navy vessel projects, right at the waterfront in Henderson, WA where the ships are being constructed.

As an APS 6 you will deliver continuity of technical assurance, working with uniformed staff in a team, using your experience in ship repair/maintenance activities to verify the ships are constructed in accordance with agreed approved domestic/international standards throughout the different phases of the build. You will be required to engage with contracted staff and will be required to identify stakeholders’ expectations and concerns as well as risks and issues, drafting briefs to inform management.

Whilst operating in a technical and regulated environment you will be responsible as a technical specialist to demonstrate strong negotiation and leadership skills, providing guidance to both the technical leads and greater team to ensure the output of the team aligns to the organisations direction.

You will play a pivotal role in identifying systemic issues, bringing these to the attention of key stakeholders and collaborating with such stakeholders to improve business practices and drive change. The key responsibilities of the role are:

- Manage and perform complex electronics-electrical technical activities and associated tasks working to agreed priorities and outcomes providing necessary support and specialist advice in the Electronic and Electrical group while conducting Shipyard surveillance, inspection, assessment and reporting on equipment, sub system, system and whole of ship electrical installation progress and quality.
- Attend inspections providing assurance services on electrical power generation and distribution related to systems requirements and legislated standards.
- Witnessing of electrical power generation and distribution related testing, maintaining continuous tracking.
- Conducting reviews of technical reports, drawings etc.
- Management and reporting of tests and Non-Conformities (systems, installations, workmanship etc).
- Build and sustain positive relationships with team members within Defence, Prime contractors, suppliers, classification society and other regulatory bodies.
- Participate as a part of the team of technical and engineering professionals to motivate and mentor developing technicians.

**About our Team**
Naval Construction Branch (NCB) is accountable for the assurance of ship construction, set-to work and transit of vessels constructed at the Osborne Naval Shipyard and Henderson precinct. We are headquartered in Osborne, SA and have a detachment in Henderson, WA and a smaller presence in Port Macquarie, NSW.

NCB is furthering continuous naval shipbuilding and growing sovereign capability by overseeing the construction to ensure quality and standards are met, storing lessons learnt and developing standard shipbuilding procedures for construction. NCB will oversee the construction of many different Navy vessels including Offshore Patrol Vessels, Hunter Class Frigates, Young Endeavour, Evolved Cape Class and Pacific Patrol Boats.

Working at NCB will enable you to be at the grassroots of continuous naval shipbuilding, where you are part of a working shipyard, being able to see and contribute to the vessels delivered and used in service by Navy. NCB currently has highly skilled and diverse shipbuilding experience which will be shared to grow your hands-on construction knowledge. You will work alongside Navy personnel, internal project management officers and Prime contractors. The opportunity for technical staff to undertake industry placement is also available.

The team operates across Australia. You will be working primarily in NCB located in Henderson Western Australia. The main function of the team is maintaining Safe and Seaworthy Ships in Build through governance, compliance and verification of ship build.
- Experience in Technical maritime electrical / electronic background.
- Application of technical knowledge and experience to identify assurance issues and risks.
- Ability to analyse and identify trends and opportunities for improvement, and provide solutions.
- An ability to work collaboratively, communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, and influence the work of teams.
