Main Objective of role: To provide efficient and safe electrical builds with our team of technicians based in Perth, WA and Brisbane, QL
This position reports to: Lead Technician and Technical & Production Manager
As an Electrical Technician you will:
Coordinate and manage a small team of electricians/technicians, ensuring quality, safety, and productivity.
Undertake complex electrical installation, maintenance, fault-finding, and commissioning works in industrial / commercial settings.
Interpret electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and perform testing, commissioning, and verification of electrical systems.
Ensure compliance with all relevant WA legislation, codes, and safety standards (Electrical Licensing Board regulations, Occupational Safety & Health, etc.).
Plan and schedule jobs, estimate labor, material needs, liaise with project managers / clients.
Mentor, train, and assess junior electricians / apprentices, ensuring their competence and supervising their work.
Manage tools, equipment, documentation, reporting, and ensure high standards of housekeeping.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, safety audits, and contribute to maintaining best practice in electrical work.
Hold a valid driver's licence for delivering items and collecting supplies from suppliers and clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise team members; allocate tasks and monitor performance.
Carry out installations, repairs, testing, commissioning of electrical equipment and systems.
Diagnose and rectify electrical faults, both planned & emergency.
Conform to regulatory compliance: ensure all work is permitted/licensed, inspected, and documented.
Maintain records of maintenance schedules, safety checks, test & inspection certificates.
Collaborate with other departments (mechanical, instrumentation, operations) to ensure integrated project delivery.
Assist in estimating, quoting, job costing, and procurement of electrical materials.
Support scheduling & planning of shifts, workload, resource allocation.
Train, mentor, and evaluate junior staff and ensure apprenticeship requirements are met.
Qualifications & Certifications
Essential:
Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician (or equivalent trade qualification) from a recognized WA or QLD RTO / TAFE.
Valid Western Australia or Queensland Electrical License (Issued by the Electrical Licensing Board) allowing you to perform licensing electrical work.
Strong experience (e.g. 5+ years post-trade) in industrial/commercial electrical work.
Demonstrated experience in leading or supervising teams (team lead / supervisor role).
Formal qualification in plumbing, pipe-fitting, welding, or mechanical skills as an additional requirement.
Preferred / Additional:
Hold or ability to obtain "A Grade" License (or highest classification feasible).
Training in high voltage (HV) systems, or switching, if applicable to your business.
Safety certifications: e.g. WHS / OHS training, Working at Heights, Confined Spaces, First Aid.
Relevant regulatory / compliance training (e.g. test & tag, arc flash, hazardous areas if applicable).
Competence in PLCs / control systems / instrumentation.
Forklift / crane / elevated work platform licenses.

Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to write reports, maintain documentation, interpret technical drawings.
High level of problem-solving, analytical fault finding.
Good time management, prioritization, self-motivation.
Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Ability to work under pressure, occasionally out of hours or in remote locations depending on project.
