**What you’ll do**
This role is an exciting opportunity to advance compliance management, capability and culture at Open. As the Manager, Compliance, you’ll be responsible for looking after day-to-day compliance at Open. You will report to the Senior Manager, Compliance and share responsibility for:
- Maintaining awareness of regulatory requirements and changes across all legal jurisdictions in which Open operates and communicating these updates to the Open leadership team in a structured manner.
- Providing compliance advice and guidance to the business on proposals and regulatory issues.
- Assisting Open to maintain relationships with relevant regulators in all applicable jurisdictions.
- Maintaining relationships with compliance counterparts at relevant insurers backing Open.
- Assisting launches from a compliance perspective to operate in new jurisdictions.
- Assisting monthly Open Risk & Compliance Committee reporting.
- Helping to develop and manage compliance policies, frameworks and procedures, to ensure compliance with all relevant legal and contractual obligations.
- Maintaining relevant registers to record and track compliance related activities.
- Promoting internal awareness of compliance issues and processes and developing competence, including developing and supporting training initiatives and programs.
- Assisting the management and oversight of frontline compliance and quality assurance functions. Includes developing and overseeing relevant and pragmatic compliance reviews of all types of distribution partners and arrangements.
- Assisting Open’s Senior Manager, Compliance in managing incident and breach reporting processes and coordinating with Open’s Senior Counsel, Compliance to assess disputes
**What you’ll bring**
- Proven experience in a similar corporate compliance role. Experience within the general insurance industry other financial services highly regarded
- Strong attention to detail, analytical, diligent and organised.
- Ability to quickly interpret regulatory guidance.
- Previous direct experience managing regulatory relationships (e.g. ASIC, OAIC) is highly regarded.
- Sound knowledge of ASIC’s regulatory guidance and the Australian general insurance industry is highly regarded.
- Sound knowledge of intermediary practices in financial services and interaction of compliance requirements.
- A self-starter attitude who is comfortable in ambiguity, sets objectives and takes initiative
- An effective and confident decision-maker who communicates well and seeks counsel as required.
- Ability to identify, prioritise and drive key compliance projects
- Good commercial acumen and pragmatic in considering risk appetite and compliance requirements to balance commercial and regulatory outcomes.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
**Role location**
Our Australian offices are located in Sydney, Melbourne and the Sunshine Coast. This role is flexible around these locations.
