About the role

**The Principal Advisor is responsible for**:

- Undertaking high level strategic policy and program analysis and research.
- Provide timely, strategic, and authoritative advice on complex and emerging policy, program, legislative issues to the Department of Health and eHealth Queensland leadership team, as required.
- Identify strategic issues and risks arising from the national digital health and partnerships landscape, and exercise sound decision making to respond to those issues
- Engagement with key stakeholders to ensure consistency and alignment with Queensland Health priorities.
- Developing and implementing projects as directed including working collaboratively with eHealth Queensland teams to lead and manage cross-agency projects to achieve the Department of Health's strategic goals.
- Liaise with Queensland government agencies including Queensland agencies, State and Territory departments, Commonwealth agencies, universities, Hospital and Health Services, public authorities regarding policy and project matters, as required.
- Deliver support to senior executives to influence the best outcome for Queensland at both a state and national level.
- Providing high quality written advice for senior and multi-disciplinary staff and building relationships across organisational, state, national and industry levels.

**What we are looking for**:

- A proven ability to provide high quality advice on a range of issues and prepare submissions, briefings and reports.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Ability to undertake research and high level strategic analysis of issues being considered by national and departmental committees in relation to digital health.
- Prior experience in advisory roles and/or engagement with both policy and technical stakeholders.
- A demonstrated, well-established understanding of government processes.
- Proven ability to incorporate feedback from stakeholder consultation into the development of advice and policy recommendations, instruments, and solutions.
- Experience in developing and maintaining effective networks by consulting with internal and external clients, interest groups, other government agencies and other stakeholders.
