Thales have an exciting career opportunity for an experienced Software Engineering Delivery Manager to join the Underwater Systems team in Rydalmere.
**KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES***
The Software Engineering Delivery Manager is responsible for
- Software Estimation and planning
- Achieving project SW milestones/goals within approved budgets.
- Planning the Design, Coding, Testing, Integration and Documentation of allocated software tasks and implementing the work as required to achieve the outcomes.
- Day to Day management of software engineers in the project team
- Cost Account Management for the Software work packages
- Presenting the solution architecture to the customer
- Ensuring that software engineering activities undertaken are conducted in accordance with relevant Thales Quality Assurance standards and procedures.
- Perform the role of Chairperson for Software Architecture Reviews
- Managing integration activities alongside the Hardware and System Engineering Managers and their teams
- Ensure Open Source License adherence
- Manage JIRA tasks and hold regular SCRUMs for your Software team
- Ensure accurate Resource and Schedule Monitoring, Reporting and Planning
- Ensure Government Security and Export rules are adhered to
- Attend and provide Software input to Engineering Review Boards and Customer Review Boards
- Attend and contribute to Project Risk Reviews
- Supporting software deployment on operational platforms
- Ensuring adequate preliminary testing is done on all software tasks before being integrated, thus ensuring mínimal problems occur at a later stage of the software life cycle.
**KEY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE **To be successful in your role, you will have demonstrated and/or acquired the following knowledge and experience:
**QUALIFICATIONS**
- A degree in Software Engineering or equivalent degree is required
- At least 5 years experience as a Software Engineering Manager
- At least 8 years’ experience as a Software Engineer practitioner.
**ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE**
- Software development in real-time systems
- Programming languages (C, C++, Java)
- Design using UML
- Experience in integrating large projects desirable
- Experience in Open systems desirable.
- Documentation of SDD, SRS, STDs etc
- Task and work estimation.- Ability to cope with pressure
- System validation and software lifecycle experience in Defence/commercial areas
