Your new role

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you'll be the technical lead for the Sydney office, providing high-level support, mentoring junior engineers, and driving the design and implementation of customer solutions. You'll work across both project and BAU environments, with a focus on cloud infrastructure, systems optimisation, and solution architecture.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Scoping and engineering customer solution requirements
  • Managing cloud and physical infrastructure (Azure, AWS, Hyper-V, VMware)
  • Performing hardware/software upgrades and backup maintenance
  • Mentoring junior helpdesk staff
  • Monitoring and remediating system alerts across AD, RMM, PSA, backups, and security tools
  • Supporting sales with technical input and quotations
  • Liaising with vendors and third-party software providers
  • Creating project documentation and managing change processes

What you'll need to succeed

  • Proven experience in a Senior Systems Engineer role within an MSP environment
  • Strong background in either public or private cloud technologies, particularly Azure or AWS
  • Hands-on experience with virtualisation platforms including Hyper-V and VMware
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects end-to-end, with strong design and implementation experience
  • Experience scoping solutions, especially with Entra ID
  • A proactive approach to mentoring and supporting junior staff
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and a customer-first mindset
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities across project and BAU work (approx. 60/40 split)
  • Willingness to travel locally for onsite tasks when required
