Lead legislative reform for a safer community

**The Position**
This impactful role provides an exceptional opportunity to ‘make your mark’ leading legislative development and advocating for reform in a critical essential services regulator.
Your work will contribute to ESV’s mandate of preventing harm by monitoring and enforcing compliance with Victoria’s energy safety legislative framework covering electricity, gas and pipelines. You will also work closely with Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) to shape the energy safety legislative framework to support Victoria’s transition to renewable energy.
Reporting to the Head of Regulatory Policy and Legislation, you will be part of a collaborative and highly engaged team responsible for legal operations, regulatory policy framework, legislative reform, investigations and prosecutions and a secretariat function.
Key accountabilities include:
- Leadership of two direct reports - Legislative Advisers
- Contributing to divisional leadership and strategy
- Overseeing legislative reviews in line with industry trends
- Environmental scanning, research and analysis
- External stakeholder engagement including industry, government, other regulators, and external law firms.

**To be successful, you’ll have**:
- Subject matter expertise in all aspects of development and implementation of legislation
- Understanding of compliance frameworks and robust governance
- Excellent people and negotiations skills, and the ability to communicate to abroad range of stakeholders
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in public policy, law, commence, economics or a related field.
