**About the role**

V/Line’s Melbourne Gang (Team) is looking for their next Rail Track Labourer Operator to join supporting the maintenance (gang) team as a full time permanent labourer / plan operator with maintenance tasks. Reporting to the Track Ganger, you will work as part of a team performing key tasks such as laying, aligning, repairing & maintaining railway tracks on both passenger and freight, servicing Southern cross to Manor Junction, Tottenham/Newport mainlines and all associated yards. 77 kms of mainlines, five major yards and a number of siding lines across the region

**Other responsibilities include**:

- The position is required to drive the truck and plant in the heavy category.
- You will also carry out manual labouring tasks for the renewal and/or maintenance work related to the rail infrastructure.
- Cleaning of plant equipment & worksite up-keep
- Safe use of hand tools, plant and equipment
- You may also need to work overtime, work away from your Home Depot, nightshift as part of a regular patter or roster cycle

**About you**

We are looking for a safety-conscious team player with a positive attitude. The person will be comfortable labouring as well as operating plant and equipment in return be benefited with a supportive culture who encourages career progression within the Track Infrastructure maintenance space. It is essential that you not only have Excavator ticket but have had experience in a similar industry with operation on a regular basis. This position could be the first step to your future career with VLine To be considered for this role, you will be required to have availability to work the current roster currently Monday to Friday 7.30 to 4.00 pm with a day off a fortnight to be agreed to by management.
- Valid Victorian Heavy Combination Licence (Essential)
- Valid Victorian Heavy Rigid License (Desirable)
- Must have completed Year 10 or equivalent
- Previous experience in either rail, Civil, Construction or recycling environment is advantageous
- Excellent practical experience operating an Excavator with a valid ticket is essential
- Demonstrated alignment to V/Line’s values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership, and human rights.
