About the RoleWe're looking for a trade-qualified Diesel Mechanic to join our Plant team, maintaining, servicing, and operating specialised rail track maintenance equipment across Melbourne's metro area. Primarily based from our Sunshine Plant Yard, you'll hit the road in a company-supplied tool-of-trade vehicle, travelling between sites to keep our rail fleet running safely and efficiently.

This role offers genuine variety and autonomy, one day you'll be servicing plant in the yard, the next you'll be on-site operating rail track equipment to support live maintenance works. It's a great opportunity for mechanics from mobile plant, heavy vehicle, or truck backgrounds to expand their skills into a unique and growing rail sector.

Key responsibilities:

  • Carry out inspections, repairs, and servicing on rail plant, vehicles, and equipment both in-yard and on-site.
  • Service, diagnose, and repair rail-mounted and heavy plant machinery.
  • Operate rail track maintenance equipment as required
  • Liaise with the Plant Supervisor to plan efficient, cost-effective maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate service records and uphold all safety and quality standards.

About You

You're a qualified Diesel Mechanic who takes pride in your work and is keen to learn something new.

You'll bring:

  • Trade qualification in Diesel Mechanics.
  • Current driver's licence.
  • High risk LF (Forklift) licence advantageous.
  • Experience in mobile plant, truck, or heavy vehicle maintenance.
  • A safety-first mindset and the ability to work independently in the field.
  • Curiosity and motivation to upskill on specialist rail and track maintenance equipment.
