It is an exciting time at The Kids Research Institute Australia. We have recently launched our 2025-2035 strategy, Research Reimagined, focused on building the capability of the Institute and our many teams to achieve our Vision of Happy Healthy Kids.

As a result of growth and in line with our strategic vision, we have a leadership opportunity as Head, Governance, Risk & Compliance.

This role will have a direct influence on how we ensure risk management is not only a compliance requirement but also a strategic enabler as we work to improve the lives of children and families.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, and alongside a strong leadership team, we are looking for a suitably qualified Head of Governance, Risk & Compliance to support our strategic objectives and align our risk practices by coordinating the development, implementation, and management of an enterprise-wide Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) strategy and framework.

As a Department Head, you will provide expert advice, guidance, and leadership on risk management across the entire organisation, helping drive a risk-aware culture and ensure compliance with regulatory and legal standards.

Some other key focus areas include:

- Transitioning to a comprehensive, enterprise-wide risk management approach.
- Collaborating with senior leadership to align risk management strategies.
- Developing and enforcing risk management policies, procedures, and frameworks.
- Overseeing compliance programs, ensuring alignment with medical research regulations, data protection laws and industry standards.
- Developing regular reports and dashboards for senior leadership on key risks, mitigation strategies, and compliance issues.
- Ensuring clear and effective communication of risk management practices across departments.

**About You**

We are looking for a self-motivated, pragmatic and experienced Leader who thrives in a dynamic environment and who will develop and implement areas of change across the organisation. Along with a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, law, healthcare, or related field the key to your success will be your demonstrated experience in the following:

- Proven leadership, management and influencing capability in a similar role.
- Demonstrated experience in governance, overarching policy and regulatory reporting.
- Strong understanding of medical research regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
- Strategic thinking skills with the ability to align risk management strategies with long-term organisational goals.
- Proficiency in identifying, evaluating, and mitigating complex risks, with a focus on both short-term and long-term.
- Proven ability to develop relationships and partnerships (internal and external) at all levels.
- Excellent collaborator, negotiator and all-round team player.
