Greater Adelaide SA, Australia Daishsat Full time

**Geophysical Field Technician / Survey Technician**

Work Across Regional & Remote Australia | Field-Based | FIFO/DIDO

**About Daishsat**

Daishsat Geodetic Surveyors is a leading Australian-based geophysical survey company, providing high-quality geophysical and geodetic surveys for government agencies, exploration companies, and mining groups across Australia and internationally. Our core work supports mineral exploration—helping to uncover the rare earth and critical minerals the world needs.

We’re specialists in our field, operating with purpose-built equipment, highly trained staff and first-class facilities. We pride ourselves on precision, safety, and our ability to deliver high-quality data from some of the most challenging environments.

**About the Role**

We’re on the lookout for enthusiastic, motivated, super fit and strong-minded individuals to carry out geophysical surveys in some of the most remote parts of Australia—and occasionally overseas. This is not your average 9-5 job. You’ll be off the grid, away from city comforts, friends, and family, often walking 15-20 km per day in hot, dry, and isolated terrain.

You’ll be part of a small field crew collecting geophysical and geodetic data on foot, in UTVs (tracked or wheeled), 4WDs, or occasionally by helicopter. Work is typically conducted in harsh conditions—extreme heat, rugged terrain, remote areas without phone or internet coverage—and can be physically and mentally demanding. The job is often repetitive, so attention to detail and resilience are key.

Some jobs involve bush camping with basic facilities (sometimes no shower, shops or other comforts), while others may have accommodation in mining camps, local towns, or pubs. Extended stints of up to 4-5 weeks away from home are common, though 4 weeks is typical. There is no set roster, and travel is FIFO or DIDO from major centres.

This job suits people with mínimal commitments—those who are ready to get off the grid and experience parts of Australia most people never will.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Collect geophysical and geodetic data across large survey areas
- Operate and maintain expensive, fragile survey equipment and modified 4WD vehicles
- Navigate and walk up to 20 km per day in difficult terrain with a backpack
- Assist with logistics, safety compliance, and daily project reporting
- Maintain vehicles, gear, and campsite equipment
- Solve mechanical and field issues as they arise
- Work safely and effectively in small teams under pressure

**What We’re Looking For**
- Aptitude for safe, precise, and efficient survey practices
- Excellent physical fitness and a resilient, can-do mindset
- Experience working in rugged, remote areas
- Manual C Class Driver’s Licence (MR/HR desirable)
- Completion of a 4WD course and strong off-road driving ability
- Mechanically minded—comfortable with light vehicle/equipment repairs
- Current First Aid & CPR certificates
- Willingness to work away from home for up to 4-5 weeks at a time
- Ability to pass drug & alcohol screening, a pre-employment medical, and hold/obtain a National Police Clearance
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and digital tools
- Legally entitled to work in Australia

**Highly Desirable**
- At least 2 years of relevant education (vocational level or higher)
- Qualifications in mining exploration, geoscience, geology or surveying
- Background in geophysics, exploration, surveying, or remote/agricultural fieldwork
- 4WD or defensive driving certification
- Experience with fly camping and remote living
- Based in South Australia or Western Australia (preferred)

**Why Join Us?**

On the job training provided
Travel Australia and explore regions most people never see
Operate with a safety-first culture alongside experienced staff
