**The Opportunity**

The Facilities Team at the Kids Research Institute Australia plays a critical role in supporting cutting-edge medical research by ensuring a safe, efficient, and future-focused environment across all sites. Comprising of skilled professionals in operations, coordination, maintenance and sustainability, the team manages the day-to-day functionality of complex infrastructure including laboratories, clinical spaces, and shared research environments. The Facilities Team works closely with researchers, clinicians, and administrative staff to enable world-class discoveries that improve child health outcomes. Their commitment to safety, accessibility, and sustainability ensures the Institute remains a leader in research excellence.

An opportunity exists for an experienced Facilities Manager to lead and manage the operational integrity, safety and strategic development of infrastructure and physical assets across the institute. This role is essential in supporting scientific excellence through high-quality, future-focused facilities management, while embedding sustainability and ESG principles into everyday operations.

As the Facilities Manager, your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Lead a team of Coordinators and facilities staff to deliver safe, efficient, and future-ready infrastructure solutions.
- Oversee daily operations across multiple sites, including labs, offices and shared spaces.
- Manage facilities-related contracts, budgets and major infrastructure projects.
- Leads the implementation of ESG and sustainability initiatives within the facilities area.
- Act as a key liaison with stakeholders including researchers, contractors, and leaseholders.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including WHS and lead risk and emergency management.
- Contribute to strategic planning and support change initiatives aligned with organisational priorities.

Based at Perth Children's Hospital, this is a full-time role for a period of 12 months.

**About You**

To be successful in this role, you will have the following skills and experience:

- A Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Building Services or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience managing facilities within a research, healthcare or similarly complex environment.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, compliance frameworks and contractor management.
- Proven ability to lead diverse teams and cultivate a positive, inclusive and high-performing workplace culture.
- A deep understanding of ESG principles and a track record of embedding sustainable practices.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- A proactive, solution-oriented approach to managing complex operational challenges.
