**About the Role**
As a Library Service Officer, you'll be the welcoming face of the library and at the forefront of providing essential library services for the University of Melbourne, supporting learning, teaching, and research.

There is a position available at both the Law Library and Architecture, Building & Planning Library. Your role includes staffing service points, handling inquiries, lending materials, and providing information on student services and scholarly literacy. When not at the service point, you'll also contribute to activities like collection maintenance and document delivery. Additionally, your role contributes to library operations, including supporting services at other libraries as needed.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Conduct effective reference interviews to perform and interpret searches for resource discovery using scholarly information resources including databases and discovery systems.
- Triage information and circulation queries, and judge when referral is necessary within agreed service frameworks
- Assist in providing a pleasant and secure client environment by supervising public areas, including the Law Students' Study Area, within library buildings as required

**Who we are looking for**

You will also have:

- A completion of a Diploma of Library/Information Studies (LIS). Eligibility for membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Library technician level of skill and knowledge. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training.
- Demonstrate COO values by acting in the best interest of your employer; displaying service excellence by striving to deliver beyond expectations and taking ownership of the delivery; and value working collaboratively, connecting with people and building relationships in your workplace
- Knowledge of library circulation systems (particularly Sierra) and policies and experience in delivering circulation services
- Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service
