**About the Role**
As a result of the growing needs of our continued operations in Australia, we seek the support of an Slurry Testing Laboratory Coordinator to join our Perth Office. This position is permanent full-time, working 38 hours a fortnight (plus reasonable additional hours).
As a Slurry Testing Laboratory Coordinator, you will be part of our local office's laboratory/workshop team, being involved in a multitude of slurry test work campaign projects.
This opportunity comes paired with an attractive salary package ($95,000 to $115,000 pa + super) and flexible work arrangements, and is an overall fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional to join a leading engineering firm in WA.
The main tasks of this position are as follows:
- Oversee Laboratory operations, supervising staff and assigning tasks and priorities relating to different test work projects;
- Conduct a variety of solid characterisation and rheology tests, including but not limited to: Water Pycnometry; Particle Size Distribution; Rotational Viscometer; Cbfree & Cbmax; Angle of Repose; and Boger Slump;
- Conduct vertical and horizontal pipe loop tests;
- Conduct UCS testwork campaigns;
- Conduct filtration and thickening test work;
- Build on the afore mentioned existing lab capabilities and expand the labs offering.
- Oversee the work of Laboratory Technicians to ensure these are conducted in accordance with the Company’s standards (including regarding Quality Control and other applicable Policies & Procedures), as well as any specific project requirements and applicable regulations (such as Occupational Health & Safety);
- Ensure the Laboratory runs smoothly and that its workshop and testing areas are tidy, well organised and compliant with applicable Occupational Health & Safety regulations;
- Ensure all Laboratory staff are familiar and compliant with applicable Occupational Health & Safety regulations;
- Review/Issue final Test Work Reports to clients (to report on various test results, rendering advice on a wide range of matters, including slurry behaviour/properties);
- Assist with the recruitment and training of new Laboratory staff (as required);
- Assist with periodical performance and salary reviews (limited to Laboratory staff only);
- Assist with Client Management tasks, including by liaising directly with clients on various test work project matters, as well as on procurement and search for new opportunities;
- Issue test work project proposals and fee estimates to clients (according to their specific needs) and negotiate terms and scope of services with them; and
- Assists with general Laboratory maintenance tasks, including plant and equipment maintenance/servicing and pipeline/pump reconfiguration (as required).
**Note**: The term “slurry” includes, but is not limited to: standard, thickened, paste and filtered tailings, hydraulic, cemented and backfill, decant/return water, and ore transported in pipelines or conveyor belts.
About You
In order to be successful, you will need to possess the following:
**Desired Qualifications**:
- Bachelor of Science (or equivalent); or
- Bachelor of Engineering (or equivalent); or
- At least 8 years of relevant experience
**Desired Work Experience**:
- Prior work experience in a slurry/soil testing environment;
- Prior work experience in an industrial/workshop setting; and
- Prior work experience in a supervisory capacity/leadership role.
**Required Skills**:
- Effective leadership skills and the ability to build and supervise a diverse team of Laboratory Technicians;
- Sound written/verbal communication skills and the ability to work well with other and under pressure; and
- Advanced general workshop and tool-handling skills; and
- Strong customer service acumen and overall management skills.
