The Australian National Maritime Museum is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Remuneration and Payroll System Manager to join our Human Resources team in this full-time, ongoing APS Level 6 position.

The Remuneration and Payroll System Manager position is responsible for overseeing the payroll function to ensure alignment with the Museum’s strategic objectives and compliance with regulatory standards.

This role requires a strategic thinker who can lead the payroll team, manage system administration (Aurion), ensuring compliance with regulations, provide expert advice & reporting, and drive continuous improvement to the ANMM.

**High level overview of accountabilities**:
Under limited direction, this position is responsible for delivering the following functions:
**Payroll and Benefits Management**
- Direct and oversee the accurate and timely end-to-end payroll process including allowances, overtime, leave calculations and other entitlements.
- Generate and analyse payroll reports to provide reliable information to executive management for decision making. Regularly review payroll data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
- Deliver expert guidance on employee remuneration, conditions and entitlements, Address complex queries and provide solutions that align with organisational policies and legal requirements
- Regularly review benefits administration processes to ensure alignment with legislative changes and best practices. Implement improvements to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency, and to support the organisations strategic goals.

**Payroll System and Compliance**
- Administer the Aurion HRIS by overseeing system settings and configurations, managing data to meet legislative and organisational requirements. Continuously explore improvements and innovations to enhance payroll efficiency.
- Maintain accurate payroll and employee records, ensuring adherence to legal requirements, and conduct regular audits to verify data integrity. Address discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and revise policies and procedures to enhance compliance and streamline operations. Stay informed about best practices and emerging regulations to keep procedures up-to-date.
- Identify and implement process improvements to optimise payroll operations. Stay informed about industry and APS trends and best practices to drive innovation and maintain compliance.
- Lead the implementation of changes in payroll processes and systems, ensuring smooth transitions and effective communication with stakeholders.

**Leadership and Team Development**
- Provide clear direction and support to the payroll team & external contractor/support, ensuring effective management and high performance. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.

**Selection Criteria**:
**Essential**
- **Qualifications and Expertise**: Relevant tertiary qualification and/or experience in payroll and HR, including complex functions and reporting.
- **Ability to interpret **Enterprise Agreements and Determinations, AASB standards, APS legislative framework, and Australian payroll & HR legislations (e.g., the Public Service Act 1999, Superannuation Legislation, LSL Act 1976, Fair Work Act, NES) and policies of the APSC, FWC, ATO, Remuneration Tribunal, Comcare, and other relevant authorities.
- **HRIS Software**: Advanced in Excel & demonstrated expertise with on-premises Aurion, or the ability to quickly acquire, including User Utility Functions, Batch & Bulk Processing, API, Query Tools, Code Designs, Business Rules, BPA, and other configurations.
- **Interpersonal Abilities**: Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with a strategic focus on payroll; commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.
- **Skills**: Strong problem-solving & attention to detail, project management, and communication abilities; adept at building relationships, managing competing priorities, and influencing decisions.
