**The Role:
This position offers the successful applicant the opportunity to be a valued member of a diverse team investigating bulk water supply opportunities and progressing priority water projects across the State. Working across and within teams in the Water Infrastructure and Strategic Coordination Group, you will support strategic water supply infrastructure planning as well as contribute to progressing new and existing priority water infrastructure objectives.
Your role will involve working as part of a small team of professionals in undertaking strategic level planning activities and progressing specific water infrastructure projects, as well as supporting related activities being undertaken by other teams within and outside DLGWV. Your work will also include related tasks such as contributing to the preparation of high level strategic documents, submissions and reports for senior management and Executive Government consideration, contributing to project design, delivery, governance and reporting; and contributing to related budget and risk management activities.
This role will consult across DLGWV and provide support to management in consulting with external State Government stakeholders, Government-owned Corporations and Australian Government agencies.
Key Accountabilities:
- Contribute to the development of strategic water supply infrastructure planning and supporting documents, strategic plans, issues papers and evaluation methodologies in the delivery of water infrastructure planning objectives.
- Undertake stakeholder engagement and consultation on strategic water supply infrastructure planning matters.
- Critically analyse and provide high level advice on a range of water infrastructure assessments and implementation activities in the context of government objectives and regulations.
- Conduct research and analysis on water infrastructure issues, including demand and options analysis, infrastructure delivery, water supply and environmental issues and contribute to the preparation of program and project planning and delivery.
- Undertake administration of grant funding and evaluation of milestones associated with water infrastructure project investigation, assessment and delivery.
- Prepare reports, submissions, briefing notes, presentations, publications and correspondence related to bulk water planning initiatives.
- Liaise across the department and other government and public sector stakeholders to progress bulk water strategic assessments and objectives.
- Contribute to project management functions, including: planning, reporting, budgets and HR functions in the delivery of objectives.
- Engage and manage procurement of expert advice on technical water supply matters and options.
- Assist in the identification of emerging issues and provide advice to management on program and project assessment and management issues in strategic planning and delivery of water supply infrastructure.
About You:
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar (project development and management) role is desirable.
- Understanding of Government processes, particularly as they relate to infrastructure projects, the preparation of submissions, reports and briefings and internal and external (stakeholder).
