The Australian Government is implementing a Scams Prevention Framework (SPF) and intends for AFCA to be the External Dispute Resolution scheme operator for scam complaints under the framework. AFCA has established a program to expand and operationalise this new jurisdiction related to banks, telecommunication service providers and digital platform providers.

We’re looking for a Project Communications Adviser to help shape the messaging and engagement strategy for the SPF rollout. Embedded in the heart of a cross-functional, high-profile program of work, you’ll bring strong communications skills, strategic instincts, and project delivery experience to make sure our messages cut through and build confidence with stakeholders. You will help lead communications for one of AFCA’s most visible and transformative initiatives, spanning digital innovation, regulatory change and ensuring public trust. Reporting into the Stakeholder Engagement & Communications Workstream Lead within the Program, and working closely with the existing Communication, Engagement and Brand team, you will bring a blend of communications and project skills to support the program delivery for AFCA.
- This is initially a 12-month contract opportunity. _

Key responsibilities include:

- Develop and execute communication plans to support project initiatives and goals, both internally and externally.
- Align communication and change strategies through collaboration with internal stakeholders, translating complexity into clarity.
- Create audience-led content and manage execution across multiple channels, including digital, social, and internal platforms.
- Work closely with the project team to ensure updates are timely, strategic and coordinated
- Monitor communication effectiveness and adapt strategies as needed.
- Build relationships across teams and with external partners to ensure aligned and coordinated messaging Identify and escalate strategic risks related to reputation and brand.
- Prepare and distribute key project materials such as reports and briefings.
- Support media responses and crisis communication efforts.
- Ensure all communications meet AFCA’s brand and quality standards.
- Perform additional duties as required to support project success.

**Qualifications**
To be successful in this role, you will need:

- Proven ability to develop and deliver communication and change strategies for large-scale projects or complex programs.
- Strong expertise in internal and change communications, with knowledge of methodologies like ADKAR or Prosci.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging and influence diverse audiences.
- Effective project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficient in using digital communication tools and platforms.
- Collaborative team player with experience working across cross-functional teams and stakeholder groups.
- Skilled at managing competing priorities while maintaining high-quality outcomes.
