**Position Information**:
Matraville Sports High School is a co-educational Selective Sports High School located in Sydney’s eastern suburbs with an enrolment of 400.

Matraville Sports High School is a member of the NSW Sports High Schools Association and provides elite coaching and performance pathways for athletes in reaching academic and sporting goals.

The school provides a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students including 31% from an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island background, and 9% EALD. The school has 7 specialist support classes.

The school is home to the UNSW-Matraville Education partnership which aims to extend the student experience through academic enrichment opportunities, enhanced teacher professional learning, and engagement with the school community.

**Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,

Approval to teach English 7-12 with a willingness and/or experience teaching History 7-12.

Demonstrated evidence of successful inclusive teaching practice that responds to the needs of diverse learners, including Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students and students who have additional learning and support needs.

Demonstrated ability and willingness to lead a whole school literacy program and passionately lead an additional faculty through the context of leading adaptive teaching and learning programs to implement the new syllabus changes.

Proven ability to lead the planning, delivery and assessment of high-quality learning experiences for students resulting in improved student outcomes.

High level interpersonal and communication skills with the capacity to lead and engage a collaborative team, building positive, inclusive, trusting relationships with students, parents, staff, external agencies, and the wider community.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
