**The Role**
In this role you will lead a team which is responsible for undertaking the identification, assessment and contextualisation of future strategic military and technology concepts and the environment. Your team will make a significant contribution to the DSTG Strategic Futures Project which aims to discover, assess and communicate the impact of emerging technologies for our Defence, National Security and Whole of Government stakeholders.
You will work collaboratively with stakeholders across DSTG to provide a comprehensive S&T capability of analytical and design techniques that support strategic decision-making at the highest level of Defence and Government.
You will also collaborate with universities and other research organisations and partner with industry and other government agencies domestically and internationally to contribute to the enhancement of S&T capability.
You will use your knowledge of analysis techniques to identify emerging and disruptive technologies and the potential strategic impact of the confluence of technologies.
You will use your exceptional ability to convey the strategic and practical relevance of yours and others’ ideas to diverse audiences, including technical focused persons, policy makers and leaders, through a variety of means, including research papers, briefings, and oral presentations.
**About our Team**
The Defence Impacts of Emerging Technologies (DIET) Science and Technology Capability (STC) develops and applies techniques that assist decision-makers to consider and respond to technology driven threats and opportunities. The benefit for Defence is the timely identification and communication of the impact of emerging and evolving technologies on concepts, capabilities, operations and the strategic environment. The STC has three disciplines focused on emerging technologies:
- Warfighting and Concepts located at Edinburgh SA,
- Defence Capability located at Fishermans Bend VIC, and
- Advanced Technologies located at Fairbairn ACT.
