We also provide domestic building insurance to builders, giving Victorian homeowners peace of mind for building projects valued over $16,000.We help our clients prepare for, prevent, or reduce the impact of harm. Your roleAs the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for our Better Patient Safety project, Emergency Care Bundles, you are responsible for the design and piloting of two bundles of care to prevent patient harm in the emergency setting. Your work contributes towards a more confident and resilient Victoria.Working with the project team, you will work in an Agile manner to design two bundles of care for patients presenting with back pain and neurological symptoms (dizziness) in the emergency department (ED). You will assist with change management activities required for the implementation of the bundles in the pilot and will be a conduit between your ED and the VMIA project team.You will also support health sector consultations to validate project findings, and collaboratively develop the recommendations for future implementation by VMIA and partners.The role reports to the Harm Prevention Programs Manager in the Risk Services Division. - You use your clinical knowledge, insights from data, evidence-based best practice, and health sector expert opinion to develop interventions and provide robust recommendations for patient harm prevention in the emergency setting.
- You engage and manage external health sector stakeholders and internal VMIA stakeholders to understand priorities and concerns, identify opportunities for improvement, validate project findings, and identify feasible solutions that align key stakeholder priorities.
- You prepare project reports and deliverables, such as findings from data analysis, literature and best practice review, progress updates for the project steering committee, and recommendations for action.
- You support identification and resolution of project issues and risks, including risk mitigation strategies, and offer viable solutions and opportunities as they arise.
- You support and assist other Harm Prevention team projects where required to meet program priorities.
About you
- You have extensive experience in an emergency department in the Victorian public health sector.
- You have a strong understanding of the challenges, risks and issues associated with emergency care delivery, and can use this understanding to draw meaningful insights from closed claims, sentinel events and other information sources.
- You have experience delivering complex pieces of work. This may include projects, quality improvement initiatives, policy and procedure development, research, or adverse event reviews.
- You have been involved in patient quality and safety initiatives or adverse event review processes.
- You have written reports for senior stakeholders, or similar professional publications and audiences.
- You have successfully delivered outcomes for stakeholders with at times competing priorities.
- You possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships to achieve objectives.
- You have demonstrated consistent sound judgement and ethical behavior in making and influencing quality decisions and developing innovative solutions.
- You must have relevant Health professional qualification (such as nursing, allied health) - essential.
- Additional project/quality and safety/management/research qualifications, or relevant practical experience is highly desirable.
