**Policy Adviser**

**The Role**

As a Policy Adviser, you will work on priority projects across the Department's portfolios including jobs, skills, economic growth, industry and innovation, regional development, sport, tourism, major events and the creative industries. You will be a part of a high-performing team that operates like an internal management consulting firm to support joined-up strategy and policy-development across the department.

Key accountabilities include:

- Participate in specialist project teams established to address priority issues across the Department's portfolio areas.
- Analyse data, collate evidence and support stakeholder engagement to analyse problems, formulate findings and recommendations on a wide range of public policy issues.
- Produce concise and compelling reports, briefs and submissions to facilitate effective decision-making.

**The Team**

The position of Policy Adviser forms a part of the Priority Projects Unit and sits within the Economic Policy, Projects and Coordination Group.

The group brings together advanced capabilities in economics and public policy, data and modelling, program design and evaluation, project management, delivery and assurance.

The Priority Projects Unit supports the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions with policy and strategy development and priority reforms. The unit delivers professional in-house services to the department's policy teams to help deliver priorities as directed by the Secretary and Deputy Secretaries.

**About You**

To be successful in the role you will have:

- Analytical and conceptual skills, including understanding of and ability to use problem solving methodologies to diagnose and analyse problems.
- Experience working as a member of a project team in complex environments, with a proactive approach to identifying tasks that will support the project to succeed.
- Sound understanding of public policy and government processes.
