**The Role**
An exciting opportunity exists to work across some of the most complex, unique and interesting financial policy matters.

You will be involved in:

- Assisting in establishing and developing financial frameworks to enable Defence to comply with whole of Government legislation.
- Supporting Defence decision makers (including senior officials), regarding Defence grants.
- Assisting in identification and management of financial risks in relation to agreements between Defence and other international jurisdictions/organisations.

The Financial Policy Analyst in the Financial Policy Directorate will focus on:

- Assisting in managing, influencing and implementing changes to the Defence financial management framework in accordance with whole-of-government mandates and changes in the Defence environment.
- Engaging in problem solving and issue management, assisting in coordinating and performing detailed or sensitive projects that impact on strategic, political or operational outcomes for Defence.
- Finding practical solutions to improve and further develop policies, procedures, and guidelines that comply with relevant financial management legislation.
- Providing relevant, accurate and timely finance policy advice to a broad range of stakeholders across Defence; Assisting in driving reforms related to the functions of the Directorate including enhancement of helpdesk function and improvements to processes related to grants, gifts and hospitality.

The Financial Policy Directorate sits within the Financial Compliance Branch in Budgets and Financial Services Division.

The Financial Policy Team are located in Russell Offices, Canberra; Defence Plaza Melbourne and Puckapunyal Military Area, Victoria; and at RAAF Base Amberley, Queensland.

The Directorate of Finance Policy is seeking an energetic and collaborative person who is highly organised and capable of managing competing priorities to ensure effective contribution to team outcomes and deadlines.
- Broad knowledge and understanding of the Australian Government’s resource management framework.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to use their initiative, to undertake relevant research and consultation and use sound judgement to recommend solutions.
- Highly organised, independent and capable of managing competing priorities to ensure effective contribution to team outcomes and deadlines.

- Willing to work as part of a small, dynamic team, have good time management and organisational skills, and are able to manage competing priorities.
- Proficient in working with Microsoft Windows Operating systems, including Excel.
