We are looking for an Energy Project Officer to play a key role in the Council’s net-zero emission project
**Your new company**
Our client is a leading Central suburb Local Council with ambitious sustainability targets. We are looking for an experienced Energy Project Officer to play a key role in supporting the Council’s transition to zero net emissions, by providing advice to support zero emissions projects involving infrastructure, capital works and other Council assets, acting as a source of expertise for Council teams undertaking emissions reduction activities and supporting the collection of data on Council’s electricity and gas usage.
**Your new role**
- Provide expert technical advice to support sustainable infrastructure, capital works and asset management projects, to ensure that they support Council’s goal of achieving net zero corporate emissions.
- Support teams across Council to adopt a ‘climate lens’, by providing expert advice and support on how they can minimise greenhouse gas emissions.
- Support the collection, monitoring and reporting of Glen Eira City Council’s performance, especially in relation to energy use and carbon emissions, including:
- Ensuring that Council’s asset management system includes all sites that utilise gas and electricity across Council.
- Incorporating Council assets with solar panels into the electricity database.
- Liaising with Council GIS officers to integrate this gas, electricity and solar data into our GIS systems.
- Visiting sites if necessary, to check and update accounts and data.
**What you'll need to succeed**
- Significant knowledge in energy, greenhouse, and environmental management within a complex organisation.
- Demonstrated experience in using and managing utility/data management software platforms and data analysis tools.
- Experience in developing, implementing and managing projects relating to climate mitigation and environmental reporting/performance.
- Demonstrated project management skills, including supervision of technical consultants.
- High-level conceptual, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- High level liaison and communication skills.
- A working knowledge of Local Government, including the role and opportunities for local government in improving sustainability and responding to climate change.
- Ability to understand and operate appropriately within the broad and long-term goals of the organisation and Council’s vision in the context of the legal, political and social environment.
