The Waterways project officer role provides an opportunity to improve the health of waterways in Victoria. Working within the Waterway Policy and Programs branch, you will work within a flexible and supportive team culture. Your project management and stakeholder relationship skills will be applied to the role.
The role will focus on:
- Delivering on a range of priority projects aligned with the Victorian Waterway Management Strategy and the Central and Gippsland Region Sustainable Water Strategy.
- Responding to known and emerging issues and maintaining good governance to support regional waterway management delivery.
- Achieving positive environmental outcomes and climate change adaptation for waterways in Victoria.
This position will be responsible for delivering on a range of priority projects aligned with the Victorian Waterway Management Strategy and the Central and Gippsland Region Sustainable Water Strategy. The role will be critical in the implementation of policies and strategies, responding to emerging issues and maintaining good governance to support regional waterway management delivery. It will deliver projects to continually improve the effectiveness of the regional waterway management framework in achieving positive environmental outcomes and climate change adaptation for waterways in Victoria. Areas of work may include the oversight and administration of projects related to environmental watering and fish passage infrastructure, water quality, Crown water frontage, riparian management, river channels, wetlands, waterway strategies and stakeholder relationships.
**Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications**
- Highly desirable: An appropriate qualification in environmental science, natural resource management, environmental management or relevant equivalent.
- Highly Desirable: knowledge and experience of waterway and catchment management regional programs for improving environmental condition and experience engaging with related internal and external partners and stakeholders.
**This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is 8 Nicholson Street, East Melbourne, with hybrid work arrangements available.**
