About the Role:
As the Generation Dispatch Team Leader, you will be responsible for the leading the Generation Dispatch Team in the operational management of AGL’s Dispatch Centre to ensure the safety and compliant operation of our renewable energy, battery storage and peaking fleet. This is a leadership role where you will organise and manage the team that works on a 24/7 roster. This role is not on the roster but some after hours interaction with the team will be required.
What you’ll be doing:
- Ensure that health, safety and environmental aspects are incorporated in all activities for the team and production operations
- Manage generation production within internal risk management and trading policies, as well as external National Electricity Rules, Generator Performance Standards and Operating licence approvals
- Plan and control our assets’ including water storage and rivers to operate our generation in line with the trading team’s running requirements and regulatory obligations
- Staff leadership and development, including the introduction of new procedures and processes
- Prepare detailed operational reports to ensure effective and timely maintenance processes
About You:
You will ideally be an experienced power generation professional, with a strong focus on HSE, process improvement, risk management and a detailed understanding of National Electricity Rules and regulatory frameworks. Your advanced leadership and strong stakeholder influencing skills will set you up for success.
What you’ll bring to the table:
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or similar
- The ability to assess potential impacts of external events on AGL’s operations
- Advanced leadership and negotiation skills, with the ability to negotiate outage plans and schedules with both internal and external customers to align common objectives
- The ability to make decisions based on sound analysis and within operational frameworks
- Proven leadership skills within a power, industrial or processing environment with a rostered workplace environment
- A track record of developing control rooms to operate effectively and efficiently
