About the Role
A fantastic new opportunity has become available for a Generation Dispatcher to join our company. Reporting to the Production Leader, you will be responsible for the operational management of AGL Energy’s Melbourne Dispatch Centre. Working on a 24/7 roster, whilst on shift you will be responsible for the remote and safe operations of AGL’s over 2000MW Hydro, Wind, Solar and Battery generation portfolio.
What you’ll be doing
- Plan, organise and manage remote operations to ensure critical safety of production operations in meeting planned production targets is effective, safe and timely
- Provide incident management coordination and supervision and undertake routine emergency exercises.
- Plan and control water storages and rivers associated with electricity generation installations in a manner to optimise water movement.
- Work closely with Physical Markets Electricity Traders to inform them of unit capabilities to ensure energy and ancillary services are accurately offered into the NEM.
- Carry out duties in compliance with the National Electricity Rules.
- Manage all operational activities and requirements necessary for the safe and efficient remote operation of the AGL Renewables generation assets from the Melbourne CBD based Dispatch Centre.
- Liaise with external agencies and the national electricity market operator regarding generation and network market requirements.
About You
This opportunity will suit an individual who has demonstrated prior control/dispatch centre experience within a heavy industrial or processing environment (Power Industry preferred) and is comfortable working autonomously on a 24/7 rotating roster.
What you’ll bring to the table
- Prior experience in a control room/dispatch operator role.
- A successful track record with coordinating site-based teams across a business to delivery operational requirements.
- Strong understanding of HSE rules and regulations associated with plant operations
- Highly developed interpersonal skills to enable effective communication with all levels of stakeholders.
- Knowledge of power system fundamentals is advantageous.
- Tertiary qualifications or relevant industry experience is advantageous.
