**The Role**
Come join a small and dynamic team dedicated to the implementation of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 (Women, Peace and Security) agenda across Defence. We are looking for a self-motivated Learning and Development Manager who is well-informed on gender, peace and security issues and who is excited about working with allies and partners to support Defence’s Gender Focal Point training.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to directly shape thinking, influence strategy and contribute to the implementation of a key pillar of Defence and Australia's international engagement program.
**About our Team**
The Gender, Peace and Security (GPS) Directorate is a newly established team in the Joint Support Services Division within Joint Capabilities Group. It is the strategic centre for implementing UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security principles across the Defence portfolio. It is accountable for implementation of the Defence GPS Mandate, which is Defence’s contribution to the Australian National Action Plan on Women Peace and Security (2021 - 2031).
The Mandate drives the work of the Directorate and articulates how Defence will integrate a gender perspective into mission planning, operations and international engagement. The GPS Directorate is a small and dynamic team rapidly establishing a reputation for professionalism and expertise, and there is ample opportunity for the right person to help shape the GPS landscape over the next decade.
The Gender, Peace and Security Directorate is seeking an enthusiastic EL1 Knowledge Manager who can work as part of a small, dynamic and integrated team to implement the Defence Gender, Peace and Security Mandate. Reporting to the Director, the successful applicant will be self-motivated and well-informed on gender, peace and security issues, enabling them to influence and shape networks and partnerships to advance Defence interests.
The successful applicant will have good time management skills and be able to prioritise between competing priorities. They will be respectful of the unique nature of ADF service and the operational context and seek common ground with ADF colleagues in order to achieve shared goals. A collaborative and inclusive mindset is the default position. Finally, they will have a sense of fun and contribute to a working environment that is safe and rewarding.
