**The Role**

We are seeking a dedicated and customer-oriented Fruit & Veg Shop Assistant to join our team in Ivanhoe. As a Shop Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the fruit and vegetable shop. You will assist customers, maintain the shop's cleanliness, handle inventory, and support the overall functioning of the store.

**Responsibilities**:

- Customer Service: Greet and assist customers in a friendly and helpful manner. Provide product information, answer questions, and offer suggestions to enhance their shopping experience.
- Stocking and Merchandising: Receive, inspect, and organize incoming shipments of fruits and vegetables. Ensure products are displayed attractively and restock shelves regularly to maintain a well-presented shop.
- Quality Control: Monitor the quality of fruits and vegetables to ensure only fresh and top-quality produce is available for customers. Remove any expired or damaged items promptly.
- Cash Handling: Process cash and card transactions accurately using the point-of-sale (POS) system. Handle cash securely and follow all cash management procedures.
- Cleaning and Maintenance: Maintain the shop's cleanliness and organization. Regularly clean display areas, counters, and storage spaces to promote a hygienic environment.
- Inventory Management: Assist in managing inventory levels, including conducting stock counts and reporting low stock items to the supervisor. Assist in placing orders with suppliers as needed.
- Product Knowledge: Stay informed about the fruits and vegetables available in the shop. Be knowledgeable about their nutritional value, preparation tips, and storage requirements to assist customers effectively.
- Upselling and Promotions: Actively promote seasonal fruits and vegetables, special offers, and promotions to boost sales and increase customer engagement.
- Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, as well as company policies and procedures. Ensure proper food handling practices are followed at all times.
- Teamwork: Collaborate with other team members to achieve store goals and maintain a positive working environment.

**Requirements**:

- Living in Australia (Ivanhoe, VIC)
- Prior experience in a retail or customer service environment is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of fruits and vegetables is advantageous.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
