**Laboratory Assistant - Microbiology Department**

Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology are currently seeking a motivated and reliable **Laboratory Assistant**to join our Bowen Hills **Microbiology Laboratory**. This full-time day shift position plays a key role in supporting diagnostic services critical to patient care.

**About the Role**:
As a Laboratory Assistant, you will work within a multidisciplinary team to assist with the preparation, processing, and support of clinical microbiology specimens. Shifts are between 6:00am and 6:00pm Monday to Friday. Once appropriately trained, participation in a **weekend and public holiday roster** will be required as part of a rotating schedule.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Prepare and handle microbiology samples in accordance with established protocols.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Perform general laboratory housekeeping and complete associated administrative tasks.
- Support culture setup and plate preparation activities.
- Manage stock levels and prepare reagents as required.
- Data entry and sample tracking using the Laboratory Information System (LIS)

**What we are looking for**:

- Prior experience or knowledge of **microbiology laboratory techniques** (advantageous).
- Strong **interpersonal, communication, and teamwork** skills.
- The ability to prioritise tasks, work methodically and efficiently, and meet deadlines.
- Accuracy and attention to detail, even under time pressures.
- A proactive and flexible approach to changing work demands.
