**The Role**
RF Sensing and Shaping Group is looking for an Anti-Ship Threat Countermeasure Researcher to work at the core of our countermeasure research program. The countermeasure researcher will use a combination of physics, statistics and dynamics to determine the effectiveness of novel electronic attack technologies in a maritime scenario. The immediate focus will be on integrating years of R&D in the Nulka rocket and unmanned vehicles with emerging ideas in machine learning and autonomous RF systems. This will be based on models and real-world data sets as well as working with experts in Radio Frequency (RF) systems.

**About our Team**
Sensors and Effectors Division undertakes research and development focused on identifying, analysing and countering threats to Australia's Defence and national security through electronic means. Electronic Warfare Operations branch conceives, develops and validates EW technologies and techniques to enhance the survivability and mission assurance of the ADF.

The Radio Frequency (RF) Sensing and Shaping Science and Technology Capability undertakes analysis and development of subsystems and next generation RF EW sensors and effectors for self-protection and survivability. We have a long history leading the Australian S&T efforts in the Nulka program and pride ourselves on delivering world-leading capability to the ADF.

Experience in Electronic Warfare (EW) is not necessary. Technical aspects of the job will be learnt along the way. You will need to possess and demonstrate a strong mathematical and problem solving background along with exceptional written and oral communication skills.

Experience or aptitude in any of the following areas is desirable; programming and data analysis using Matlab, Python or C/C++, deep learning/machine learning, guidance and control, electro-magnetism, signal processing, experimental design, or radio frequency measurement equipment.

You will be working closely with Defence stakeholders to identify key requirements and collaborate with industry, international research organisations and academia to achieve outcomes. You will be expected to maintain an awareness of state-of-the-art practices in EW modelling and countermeasure techniques. As part of a team, it is expected that you will bring your own ideas and enthusiasm and be able to work with a level of independence.
