Initial 12 month non-ongoing contract with the possibility of extension based in Woden, Canberra.

**Your new company**
This Federal Government statutory authority is based in Woden, Canberra and responsible for implementing the Government's policies and programs to improve the lives of communities. Currently, they are seeking an adaptable EL1 Policy Advisor to join a new team as part of a restructure.

**Your new role**
As the Policy Advisor, you will join a small team that was recently created to support the CEO. You will be responsible for capturing the CEO's voice for external stakeholders and ensuring there is a consistent narrative through policy oversight. Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Coordinating, writing and reviewing briefs, reports, submissions and correspondence. This includes ensuring the advice supports the policies and commitments of the Government.
- Providing strategic thinking and coordination of the team's written work to ensure that the CEO's values are reflected.
- Anticipating and addressing issues by providing quick and accurate advice to the CEO on complex issues to position the team as a trusted partner for the Prime Minister, Ministers, their staff and stakeholders.
- Managing and fostering internal and external relationships, demonstrating the team's reliability and responsiveness.

**What you'll need to succeed**
To be successful for the position, you will have previous experience within the Federal Government and in a similar position. You will also have:

- Previous experience in the coordination of strategic policy development and outcomes.
- An interest in strategic thinking as your role will have you examine written work from a holistic perspective to construct a narrative that captures the CEO's voice.
- Highly developed communication skills both written and verbal to foster effective relationships with colleagues and a range of stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills including the ability to handle multiple complex issues and the proven ability to meet deadlines.
- The ability to be self-motivated, adapt to changing circumstances and operate flexibly under limited supervision.

To be considered for this role, you will need to be an Australian Citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance at the Negative Vetting 1 level.
